We study this great story from which weaves together themes of hospitality, divine encounter and new life. Bring a Bible. The following dates are on the 7th, 14th, 21st of December at 10am. There will be coffee and tea provided. Please note that Jane Perry is hosting a version of this course in the evenings. Details below.
ADVENT REFLECTIONS (evenings) - Mon/Thurs evenings during Advent, 7.45 for 8pm, finished by 9pm. Dates: Mon 2nd; Thurs 12th; Mon 16th; Thurs 19th December. Contact Jane on 07779 603 728 or janeperry@live.co.uk for details of venue.
A SHORT REFLECTION ON PRAYER, BASED ON MATTHEW 13:45-46: The pearl of great price can be understood as the pearl of prayer. It is this marvellous and often apparently secret dimension of life which is both inherently precious but so hard, at times, to find or even to know that it exists at all. We can shoulder our way through the day and through a service without actually stopping and discovering the pearl of prayer which is strangely hidden inside us. This prayer is the prayer of the heart, the discovery of God's presence within our own consciousness but hidden, just as the treasure is hidden in the field. When we lose touch with the depth of prayer, the world becomes ever more isolated and apparently cold. Faith also then becomes formulaic or unreal. So we keep finding, as it were, the pearl of great price again and again, as if for the first time. And it is always worth all that we have.
HELP WITH REFRESHMENTS: We are still looking for more people to be part of the refreshment rota for providing teas and coffees after the 10 a.m. service on Sunday. This is not a strenuous task and you’d usually only be asked once a month. Speak to Jane or Jackie for more information.
ST ANNE'S OPENING TIMES: Due to current building works, we are unable to open the church during the week, as we usually do. The church is open for all the usual services and events, such as daily Morning Prayer 0915 to 0945 monday and friday and other events publicised on the website. We hope the internal building work will be completed in December and the church can be open as usual.
ST ANNE'S WEBSITE: www.stanneslewes.org.uk - Our website offers resources for our growth in discipleship. On the website you can now find recent sermons collated in one place under the tag sermons. Also, we have a regular slot called Spiritual Reflections which aims to look at questions of faith in a fresh, imaginative way. Contact Ashley or Ben if you can't find the content.
ONLINE AND CARD TRANSACTIONS: Donations can also be made through our website (the DONATE button is in the top right-hand corner of every page).
